Art lessons

Art For All!

I specialise in teaching art step by step to anyone of any ability, or with no ability. If a person has enough dexterity to hold a pencil or a paint brush I can show them how to create a work of art within an hour.

Below are some examples of recent lessons

Moonlight
A simple yet striking watercolour painting

River Thames
A drawing with paint on watercolour paper

New York
Two different styles in one picture

Springtime
A watercolour painting with interesting shadows

Big Sky
An open seascape with several focal points

Cotswold Cottages
Unusually, this picture took two sessions, but the result was worth it

Crowded Village
Creating these scenes is great fun and surprisingly easy to achieve too

Lonely tree
A simple watercolour painting employing a variety of techniques

Snowy track
A good example of negative painting …. that is, leaving the white of the paper to show through

The windy day
This painting shows the power of red and white, my favourite 2 colours

Autumn colour
In this lesson I concentrated on creating great depth from foreground to background

Countryside scene
I love teaching paintings with fences. They’re easy and always add interest to a picture

Duckling
I like to vary my lessons so that my regular pupils always learn something new

Moon and fox
Did you spot the fox in the undergrowth? Subtle details can make a picture very attractive

Toadstools
This was great fun to teach and everyone created a great painting

Norfolk windmill
Tranquil watercolour scene with enough interest to keep the viewer coming back to have another look
